About this role…
Bookkeeper will provide financial services and will be required to:
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Preparation and Compliance: Preparation of book keeping work for external clients following set procedures including:
o Allocation of bank feeds to correct accounts with accurate GST coding (research if required) using clients copies of receipts.
o Reconciliation of bank accounts
o Preparation of payroll and lodging of single touch payroll as required
o Review profit and loss for the period to ensure consistent and accurate coding
o Reconciliation of wages paid and superannuation payable accounts,
o Reconciliation of all balance sheet items, with supporting documentation where necessary including ATO accounts, and superannuation reconciliation.
o Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) on a monthly or quarterly basis as required for external clients accurately and on time to ensure compliance, avoid penalties, and maintain client trust and satisfaction. Review financial documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to accounting standards.
o Quarterly reconciliation of superannuation for clients providing payment details to meet deadlines.
- Payroll and Payroll Tax Management: Manage payroll processing in accordance with Awards and Fair Work Australia, and payroll tax calculations for external clients to ensure timely and accurate payments to employees, thereby maintaining regulatory compliance and employee satisfaction.
- Workers Compensation Management: Manage workers compensation annual reconciliation of wages and declaration of future wages within required reporting deadlines
- Team Liaison and Communication: Maintain strong relationships with the team through regular daily communication, addressing the queries and needs of your direct manager, and providing timely updates on job status. It will allow rapport to grow within the team and this will contribute to high client retention rates and enhanced client trust.
- Accounts Receivable and Payable Management: Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable functions for external clients to ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments, optimising cash flow and financial stability.
- Workflow Management: Manage workflows for various jobs, ensuring timely completion and high-quality output working towards a set budget, notifying your manager of any issues or extra areas of work required prior to commencing them, allowing communication with the client first so the extra time can be recovered when billing. Liaise with employees to prioritise tasks and ensure efficient job completion, enhancing productivity and optimising service delivery.
- Procedural Improvement: Prepare work according to the procedures, implement additional procedures as required and refine procedures for bookkeeping, ensuring streamlined processes and improved efficiency. Improved procedures reduce costs, increase operational efficiency, and enhance client service quality.
Qualifications / Skills:
- Experience in the same role within the last 2 years with 4 years plus experience
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, tax laws, and payroll management. Proficiency in preparing BAS, and managing accounts payable and receivable for external clients to ensure meticulous accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Certificate IV in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or a related field. A qualification from a recognised professional body is desirable.
- Compliance with ongoing professional education and certification requirements as required.
